Your Daily Dose of Funny
I know I haven’t updated in a month, I apologize. I have been working on Part 3 for a while and it’ll be up as soon as possible. In the meantime, I’ll try to give you short, funny blurbs at least twice a week in between stories. Here’s the first:
I have a Christian fundamentalist nurse. Doesn’t believe in evolution, bashes gays, all the standard fundie stuff. I was telling her about how big the universe is and how many planets there are (I said billions, she says only hundreds… yeah, I know). Then the conversation shifted to atoms and molecules when she dropped this bomb on me, “All these scientists talking about atoms and molecules, I’m like, ‘NO!’.
“Wait, so you don’t believe in atoms and molecules?”
“No”
“So what are we made of?”
“Dust and clay” She said knowingly.
Don’t ask me how a nurse believes this. God bless her fundie heart.

I read this and just had to comment.
Wha…..?!?!?!?
While I’ve graded chemistry tests where students pull this stuff and go on and on in diatribes about how (fill in the blank) is wrong and (fill in the blank with something equally as interesting as we’re made out of clay and dust) that the actual existence of these people don’t surprise me.
What runs through my head at this moment is 1) how did she become a nurse? and 2) is this the type of nurse you want assisting you? ’cause you know that med your doc prescribed isn’t real, let me just give you this dust instead.
Part of me really hopes even the fundies are even crying a little inside with that comment since, you know, we can actually see atoms and molecules.
HW: She’s a good nurse, just has wonky beliefs.

Wow. Funny. I used to be a fundie, so I’ve heard this one before.
By the way, I enjoy your blog. I come back at least once a week and it’s nice to see you’ve posted again. I look forward to more.

Here’s what I don’t get with “Fundie Nurse”TM!
If she’s against all the science, then how on earth did she fall into the medical field that seems to be plagued with it?
Especially with the “Dust and Clay” line how can she possibly understand what’s going on with why you are the way you are? There’s a lot of specific process that have to occur that culminate in your condition.
Kinda backwards. Unless she’s just using the fundie-mentality to be a bigot?
I know her brand of crazy doesn’t get you down, just wondering how her head works.
Love your writing man.
